Regulars to the blog will notice i’ve changed Week in pictures around a little, it’s moved from Wednesday to Friday and incorporates ‘Friday links’ into it. Heres some pictures from my week, stuff ive been enjoying on the net and some tunes i’ve been listening to…

Toy fair this year was a lot of fun, unfortunately no photos as cameras aren’t allowed inside. It’s an industry show where you can see up coming toys for the next year or so, its mostly for buyers and to raise market awareness for manufacturers but i’m less busy handing out business cards and more focused on playing with toys all day! My favourite part is getting to see next years Lego! Its also nice to see the toys i prototype in their finished, production, ready-for-sale versions.

On a shopping trip to London on Monday i saw these and my girlfriends convinced me to buy them. I’ve wanted DM’s ever since i was a little girl so i don’t know why i was so hesitant, they’re so comfortable like walking on shiny pretty pink clouds.

Custom Polar Bear plush

This little polar bear is my latest custom plush for Lauren. She loved the albino easter bunny I made earlier this year and as each toy i make is unique we came up with the idea of making an albino bear. He is made from lots of different white and cream furs giving him lots of textures and feels. His body is made from super soft polar fleece and airbrushed along the seams for a vintage look.

I took my latest custom project on a little trip out to take some pictures. I haven’t been updating my shop much lately as i’ve been working through custom orders. I loved making this this bear, she’s definitely a favorite! She has a coarse curly purple fur body with a super soft pink fur head and tail, her inner ears and foot pads have been accented with a pink on pink candy stripe fabric. I usually leave the hair matte on my plushes but for this bear i glossed the hair and added a peralescent powder to the lacquer so it shimmers and gleams in the sun. She was an absolute joy to make

More little Blue Bear

I think the little bear looks so cute next to one of my big plushes! He turned out soo much smaller than i imagined, he’s only 5″ tall

It makes me want to try making an even smaller one, The only thing limiting the small-ness is the joints, so if i can do away with them it will only be my nimbleness and eyesight keeping me from making a smaller bear

It was fun making a little bear but i think this project will be on hold for a while as i’ve got lots of custom orders to work on.

Monsterpillar

This plush had been a long time in the making but i finally finished him last night, meet the Monsterpillar! He has 6 poseable jointed legs and a jointed neck. As with my bears he has a resin face i cast by hand from my own sculpt. I’m really happy with the way he turned out – i was worried the new monster faces would look too plain compared to the little girls faces but it gives me a lot more scope for painting each one differently. I have already started another!

Pink Bear now in the Shop

I have just added this pink bear to my shop, click here to buy her! Edit: sorry she has now sold

She is made from bobbly hot pink fabric with a soft fluffy pink head and has red and white striped inner ears and soft PVC paws. She is totally posable and able to stand and sit unassisted. As with all my toys she is totally unique and i will not be making another one!

Jellyfluffs take me to London

Yesterday me and Leanne went for a fun day out in London! We went to the Wellcome Collection which i’d never been to before, it was absolutely fascinating and i recommend it highly! We ate tasty foods and walked around looking at stuff. We took the Jellyfluffs, here are some pictures….

We visited a lovely garden in soho. It was so strange to fnd a peaceful garden right in the middle of london! Everything there was made from reclaimed materials – old house doors as signs, benches from all over the place. It was really lovely to see such great use made of a tiny space.

Jellyfluffs are straight edge

We had a super tasty lunch at Wok to Walk . We had been to the one in Amsterdam went a bunch of us went on holiday last year, and i found this one by accident when i was in town last week. Yum yum yum!

We stopped off at Candy Cakes in Covent Garden. The cakes were beautiful to look at but we both thought they were very over-the-top sugary and *very* overpriced. This one was £4!

We ended our day with a long stroll round south bank looking at the street artists and performers. Leanne thought this sculpture looked like a bumhole. ha!
